Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I sign to become a member?

In addition to the GSI membership application, you will need to sign a waiver that dismisses us from any liability in case of injury, death or any other incident to you or your property. An automotive shop will always be an inherently dangerous area. If you get hurt you are responsible for yourself. You are NOT covered by shop insurance.

Do you know how to fix this?

This is the DIY garage – the ‘Y’ stands for Yourself. on a serious note, nobody knows it all, so GSI gives you access to the SnapOn ShopKey online database that will provide detailed information on the repair of MOST vehicles.

Are mechanics available to assist with repairs?

A mechanic will generally be on duty to advise customers at no charge. If you get stuck and need us to finish the job, or just do it for you, that can be arranged at a reasonable charge.

Can I just drive up and rent a bay?

Sure, if a bay is available at the time, and if you’re not already a member you can sign up on the spot, but we recommend reserving a bay online at our website or by calling us at 401-739-0090, due to high demand.

Can I paint my car in the shop?

NO. Sorry, but we do not have the space, equipment or special ventilation to allow any painting.

Can I mount tires and balance wheels?

YES. We will have professional equipment available here for that.

Where’s the closest auto parts store?

Not a problem for GSI members! No more running around town. Order the parts you need from local stores right here at GSI, and they will deliver them to you. You can bring your own parts if you prefer. For bigger projects, you can have parts like engines and transmissions delivered here with proper notice.

Can I leave my car overnight?

Yes, on a limited basis we can offer FREE overnight storage for customers who will be working on their car for more than one day.

Can I store my car at GSI during the week until I have time to work on it?

Yes, not for free, but at a fee to be arranged according to the circumstances.

Can I bring a friend to help me?

Yes, you can bring along one other person to help.

Do you allow motorcycles?

NO. We are set up for cars and light trucks only.
